Disclosure & Policy on AI

InkVault Publishing believes authors should know how the creative services and artwork they purchase are produced so they can make informed decisions for their books.

Our Design Process

InkVault Publishing uses a combination of professional design software, licensed design resources, digital editing techniques, and artificial intelligence-assisted or artificial intelligence-generated elements in our cover design workflow.

AI-generated imagery may be used as a starting point or component of a design and is further edited, composited, retouched, color-corrected, manipulated, or otherwise refined using professional design software, including Adobe Photoshop.

Not every design uses the same tools or process. When AI-generated imagery is used in a cover, InkVault Publishing does not represent that imagery as traditionally illustrated or photographed artwork.

Premade Covers

Unless a listing specifically states otherwise, customers should assume that InkVault premade covers may contain AI-generated and/or AI-assisted visual elements.

Premade artwork is sold as shown. Customers are encouraged to review the completed design carefully before purchasing.

Custom Covers

AI-generated and/or AI-assisted tools may be incorporated into custom cover projects as part of InkVault Publishing's standard design process.

Clients who require a cover created without AI-generated imagery should communicate that requirement before booking. InkVault Publishing will determine whether the requested project can be completed within those limitations before accepting the project.

Publishing Platform Disclosure

Publishing platforms maintain their own policies regarding AI-generated and AI-assisted content, and those policies may change over time.

Amazon KDP currently distinguishes between AI-generated and AI-assisted content. Under its current guidelines, content created by an AI-based tool is considered AI-generated even when substantial edits are made afterward. KDP currently requires publishers to disclose AI-generated images, including cover artwork. Content created by a person and subsequently edited or refined using AI-based tools is currently considered AI-assisted and does not require disclosure to KDP.

Clients are responsible for reviewing and complying with the current content and disclosure requirements of Amazon KDP and any other publishing or distribution platforms they use.

InkVault Publishing cannot determine how every publishing platform will classify a particular design or guarantee that platform policies will remain unchanged.
